How does the mind decide what to hold on to, and what to let go of?

We are trying to understand why and how intentional forgetting differs from everyday forgetting. Both forms of forgetting decay over time, but at different rates — the question is why, and how. We approach it from convergent directions: eye tracking, neural evidence, behavioral studies, and computational approaches, all brought to bear on the same common question.

One set of questions. A repertoire of tools.
